Create a striking focal point in your freshwater aquarium with this red tiger lily. Its broad leaves and warm red to bronze tones provide a bold contrast to green plants, with coloration and pattern influenced by lighting and growing conditions.
Place it in the midground or background where it has room to spread. This rooted water lily can develop long-stemmed floating leaves as well as submerged foliage, so allow space above and around the plant.
Set the roots gently into aquarium substrate while keeping the growing point exposed. If supplied with a bulb or tuber, do not bury it completely. Nutrient-rich substrate or aquarium root tabs used according to their directions can support healthy growth.
Provide moderate to bright aquarium lighting and consistent nutrients. Supplemental CO2 can support growth but is not essential in every setup. Maintain stable water conditions and avoid frequent uprooting once the plant is established.
Trim unwanted floating leaves near their base to limit surface shading and encourage a more compact display. Remove damaged or aging foliage without injuring the growing point, and leave enough healthy leaves to support the plant.
Some older leaves may decline during adjustment to a new aquarium. Watch for healthy new growth and allow time for roots to establish. Plant size, leaf count, and coloration vary naturally.
