Bring a classic flash of color to your freshwater aquarium with Neon Tetras. Their shimmering blue stripe and red markings stand out beautifully against green plants and darker backgrounds, adding movement and contrast to a peaceful community setup.
Neon Tetras are social schooling fish. Keep a group of at least six, with larger groups encouraging confidence and natural behavior when aquarium space allows. They should not be kept alone.
Provide a mature, fully cycled freshwater aquarium with dependable filtration and stable water conditions. Include plants and shaded retreats while leaving open space for swimming. Avoid sudden changes in temperature or water chemistry, acclimate new arrivals carefully, and maintain water quality with regular water changes.
Choose small, peaceful tank mates with compatible water requirements. Avoid aggressive fish and larger species that could swallow them. Watch feeding time to make sure these small fish receive their share.
Feed finely sized tropical flakes or micro pellets, supplemented with suitable small frozen or live foods such as daphnia and baby brine shrimp. Offer modest portions that fit their small mouths and remove uneaten food.
Color intensity can vary with lighting, condition, and time of day, and may appear subdued while fish settle into a new aquarium.
